What is Cyber-Ethics?Edit

Cyberethics can be defined as "the field of applied ethics that examines moral, legal, and social issues in the development and use of cybertechnology" (Spinello & Tavani, 2004). Cyberethics has evolved as computer technology has evolved, starting in the late 1950's. As computer technology has progressed so has the need for a clear set of guidelines in reference to cyberethics. Deborah Johnson (2004) argues that there are three special features to ethics since the evolution of 21st Century technology: the Internet being global and interactive, the Internet enabling anonymity, and the reproducibility of the information on the Internet (Spinello et.al,). The goal of this wiki is to inform high school parents and students on the major components of cyberethics and on rules and regulations to avoid cyberethics issues.
